Pictures: J. Cole & Kendrick Lamar Cookin’
Apparently Kendrick is in the ‘Ville to cook something up with Cole. Are they working on their collab album? Who knows but hopefully new music is on the way. Check out the rest of the pictures over at Dreamvillian.
Pusha T “Exodus 23:1″
Is there anyone better in hip hop right now at throwing subliminal shots than Pusha T? Ponder that one for a while and listen to his new track. No word yet whether this will be on his solo album or the upcoming G.O.O.D. Music compilation.
“You signed to one niggaa, that signed to another nigga, that signed to three niggas, now that’s bad luck”
Pete Rock Upset With “Around My Way”
Legendary hip hop producer Pete Rock took to Twitter to vent his frustations with Lupe’s new single and on the music business. “Around My Way” samples “Today” by Tom Scott. Pete used the same sample on his classic track “T.R.O.Y.”, arguably the genre’s most revered song. The song was inspired by the death of Pete Rock’s close friend. Here’s a few of Pete Rock’s tweets.
No disrespect to lupe fiasco and i like him alot but TROY should be left alone. Feel so violated, the beat is next to my heart and was made

It's so hard for folks to make original music, I possess that, but these dudes are scared of that and this is supposed to be HIP HOP?

This business can be so lame, sometimes I make beats blindfolded with one hand tied behind my back and still these cats can't be original to

I think lupe is a great artist, I'm that angry with him but it's a major label idea. I can feel it.

Lupe Fiasco “Around My Way [Freedom Ain't Free]“
The sample is very familiar right? “Around My Way (Freedom Ain’t Free)” is the first single from Lupe’s upcoming album. Can’t wait. Hopefully the new album is more Food & Liquor than Lasers. You can purchase the single tomorrow in a few hours on iTunes.
UPDATE:
Ruby Hornet already has news on the video for AMYFAF. I wonder if the video will footage from the NATO protests. The single will be available on iTunes in a few hours according to Lupe himself.

Only Built 4 Sunday Linx: May 20 Edition
Only Built 4 Sunday Linx is a new feature on Hip Hop Snobs. Every Sunday I’m going to link all the interesting articles, interviews, features and more that I’ve read throughout the week in one convenient post. So be on the lookout for this feature every Sunday. Also if you have a suggestion, email me at snobworthy@gmail.com
MTV UK has a interview with Oddisee. In the interview they discuss his latest four track remix EP and his upcoming album. If you been following this site as of late you can probably tell I’m really a big supporter of Oddisee’s music. He’s provides that “feel” but without being outdated if that makes any sense to you. [link]
A really good article on Jay-Z and his support of gay marriage is provided by Rembart Browne of Grantland. Obviously it’s a really big issue in our country and it’s encouraging that Jay-Z made his stance public. [link]
The Miami New Times has list of the top 10 totally ridiculous celebrity DJs. When I was in Miami a few months ago I picked up a issue of the New Times and I’ve been hooked ever since. I really like the alternative newspapers found in big cities. There’s a few in Chicago that I like as well. Also the list is interesting because of how the DJ has become such a popular figure in our celebrity obsessed culture that celebrities want to become DJs or at least front like they are. [link]
GQ has a profile of Justin Bieber. I know, I know what the hell is anything to do with Justin Bieber on this site. It’s just a well written entertaining profile on someone that we really don’t know much about outside of his public life. [link]
A contributor over at Rap Genius has a detailed look into the evolution of hip hop fashion. When it comes to fashion I always try to stick with the classics, sure I incorporate some trends into what I wear but certain things never go out of style. You don’t want to be that dude that was wearing FUBU when it was hot then now wears Affliction and all that d-bag type clothes. [link]
Music Video: Penny Shaw “7 AM”
